The TEP and UES Medical Device Alert Program is a program for customers who have a life-sustaining medical device in their home or a medical condition requiring continuous gas or electric service. The program keeps these customers informed about service interruptions, their status and the estimated time of restoration. We notify the Medical Device Alert customer in advance of any planned electric outages affecting their residence, however unplanned outages present a challenge.
We are looking for best practices from other utilities for programs like our Medical Device Alert Program:
Do other utilities have additional contacts at the medical device service location? and/or with friends or family of medical device customer?
Do other utilities prioritize outage restoration based on medical device customers?
In advance, thank you for your input.
